MGO Kiko is owned and operated by Tommy & Kathleen Steele, located 6 miles south of Interstate 20 at the Newton/Philadelphia exit on hwy 15 in Newton, MS. We are dedicated in raising and selling the best Kiko genetics in Mississippi. The does we have in production now were purchased at Rolling Meadows Farm in Gainesville, Ga., which we believe has the best original Kiko genetics in the U.S. Most of the animals we purchased were selected along bloodlines that offspring exhibited a consistency in traits favorable to us. Large, deep bodies with good pelvic bone width are traits we found common in the Terminator XX / Zorro does. The consistency of these traits may occur because Terminator XX and the original Zorro had the same dame. I think it worth mentioning, at a time when much is made of production numbers in selecting animals, that consistency in the bloodline as well as bloodline is overlooked. It is great to have good numbers as long as they are consistent among the offspring and not spotty. Inconsistency in offspring maybe a sign of mingled heritage. We soon discovered the matching of our herd sire Joker, grandson of Supersport, and these Terminator XX / Zorro does produced offspring we believe very desirable. However, time will tell if we were right, for it is early in our breeding program. Our 2011 kid crop produced some very promising potential herd sires, as seen on the " FOR SALE" page. The 2012 kid crop will have the first kids from NZ Kiko does and bucks born here at MGO. We compile production data on all offspring born here at MGO and is available upon request by potential buyers. At present, our primary breeding goal is to produce NZ Kiko does for our breeding herd. It is our belief, the NZ Kiko doe is the most valuable asset in a meat goat seed stock operation. At a later date, we plan on bringing in other meat goat breed bucks to produce the best commercial doe we can in a lower price range. Because of the rarity of the NZ Kiko, in most areas, the price of these great animals is unpractical to most commercial breeders. However, the NZ Kiko buck is a worthwhile investment if a commercial breeder is wanting to upgrade his doe herd and improve the hardiness and survivability of his kid crop. If you have any questions, please contact us, usually best by e-mail if possible, and we will try to help in any way possible, If we can not meet your needs, we will try to reference you to a reliable breeder. Thank you for your consideration. |
